Moving to Dubai, relocating to London, an extended summer in Los Angeles… the reasons for looking for a nanny abroad are many. And so are the questions. Here is an overview of what you need to anticipate.

Visa and Work Permit
This is the number one point, and one that should never be overlooked. Every country has its own rules regarding immigration and employment law. In the UK, for example, the rules have changed considerably since Brexit. In the US, work visa sponsorship is a process in its own right. In Dubai, the procedure is different again.
At Magic Nannies, all candidates placed internationally hold a valid visa or work permit. We leave nothing to chance on this matter.
Adapting to Cultural Differences
A French nanny placed in New York will not have the same experience as a nanny placed in Monaco. Educational habits, social codes and family expectations vary from country to country. That's why we take the time to fully understand the cultural context of each placement, to put forward candidates who will feel comfortable there.
The Role of the Agency in an International Placement
Searching for a nanny abroad on your own is possible, but it's time-consuming. The language barrier, the distance, verifying references in another country… A specialist agency like Magic Nannies has an international network of pre-screened and qualified candidates. We handle the logistics, coordinate remote interviews, and make sure everything is in order before departure.
What Budget Should You Expect?
An international placement generally costs more than a placement in France, for two reasons: nanny salaries are often higher (as a guide, allow 10 to 15% more), and our fees increase from 15 to 17% of the annual net salary. Added to this are file opening fees of €300. It's an investment, but families who have done it will tell you: peace of mind is priceless.
